Laura Dronzek
In my paintings, I look at things we see every day and then ‘invent and reinvent’ them for myself. I begin by blocking in shapes or a horizon line and then layer paint until a landscape or a still life begins to form. It is an intuitive process. I never know where a painting will end up when I begin. Fairly finished paintings get reworked, painted over time and time again, until the final forms emerge. For me, it is the mystery found in the commonplace, the extraordinary in the ordinary, that is worth examining.
